Keighley "Just Ride" CyKle Club

Our 2011 Development Plan

Our History

KJRCC, first came about following a partnership funding agreement between Worth Valley Primary School, the then Airedale teaching Primary Care Trust and Bradford Council in 2007.  This funding was for the school to create a cycle track within its grounds.  The funding was agreed with the condition that the track was also made available for community use, and so KJRCC was formed to run outside of school hours and allow this community use.  The club continues to be supported by the above partners but is now run as an independant organisation with a constitution and committee made up of parents of club members.

In January 2009, the club attained the Sport England and British Cycling Club Mark Award.  This award shows that we are a progressive club, aimed at developing and promoting the sport of cycling to our members and the community

In March 2009, KJRCC moved venues from Worth Valley Primary School to Marley ACC (just off the Aire Valley By-pass).  This move allowed the club access to a larger training area including off road tracks and trails and increased facilities and also the potential to develop the off road tracks.

In February 2010, the club recieved in excess of £3000 from Sport England to promote both the club and cycling to the local community, this funding will allow us to increase the number of coaches we have and to promote the club to every child with ou area, aswell as purchase additional equipment for our members to use.

About Us

KJRCC is all about giving young people the opportunity to discover cycling as a pastime, sport and also a means of transport.  Aimed at the moment at children of primary school age, but with the above funding hoping to increase this to secondary school ages, the club works on imptoving the skills, fitness and confidence of its members during our weekly sessions on Saturday mornings.

To develop thier skills learnt at the sessions at Marley, each month the club arranges a trip to a local off road area such as Penistone Hill or Harden Moor where the members can put their new skills to the test, during the Summer months these monthly rides go further afield to areas such as Gisburn Forest in Lancashire.

The club is open to all abilities and can supply both bikes and helmets to those who either do not have access to or have difficulty transporting thier own bikes, ther is no charge for this.

The sessions at Marley are every Saturday morning from 10am to 11am throughout the year and cost £1.00 per session (first session is free), we also have no annual membership.
